Professional integrity is the cornerstone of a journalist’s credibility.
Report by Rageh Omaar the journalist or Rageh Omaar personal Opinion ?
Journalists cannot always guarantee ‘truth’, but getting the facts right is the cardinal principle of journalism.
The article wrote By our Favourite journalist Rageh Omaar, lacks journalism integrity, he did not strive for accuracy, the relevant facts are not facts at all and the Source used by Rageh which he keeps repeating is OBSERVERS “we are all observers” unless he is taking about the Election Observers whom can not deliver accurate information yet.
UK National Observers have not had enough time to gather this knowledge yet with accuracy, some just arrived and the crew is leaving on 8/11/2017, if Raage source is Somaliland Observers that can only be true, if he spoke to one party Observers because the List of Somalilander’s Observers is not yet known.
Professional Journalists should always strive for accuracy, give all the relevant facts . When they cannot corroborate information they should say so.
Professional Journalist as Rageh Omaar must be independent voices; they should not act, formally or informally, on behalf of special interests whether political, corporate or cultural, that might constitute a conflict of interest.
A sure sign of professionalism and responsible journalism is the ability to hold yourself accountable. Rageh Omaar article can be said to be a case of SLANDER ( the action or making a false spoken statement damaging to a person’s reputation)
A message to Rageh Omaar from me
“I hope you value the Journalism integrity and if you express your opinion its fine but you are obliged to state it as your opinion”.
