Hargeisa, (Somaliland Monitor) -Somaliland’s Minister of Industries Mr. Shuaib Mohamed Musse has paid an inspection tour to the ruined Berbera cement facility in Sahil region.
During the inspection tour, Minister Shuaib was accompanied by the mayor of Berbera city Mr. Abdishakur Mohamoud Hassan (Cidin), Deputy Minister of Industries and other officials from Ministry of Industry.
Speaking to journalists, Industries Minister Mr. Shuaib Mohamed Musse stated that the reason behind his visit to the ruined cement factory is to inspect the situation of the plant which has been dysfunctional since fall of Siyad Barre regime in 1991.
“The main reason behind our visit is inspect the condition of the facility which is the country’s only cement facility and to know how we can make it operational in the future.” Minister Shiab said.
The Minister went on to say: “instead of sending Industries Ministry officials to inspect the plant, I prefer to visit the facility and see the ruins of the plant which has been looted during the country’s liberation against the brutal dictator of Siyad Barre.
The Industries Minister also stated that he will continue his inspection tours to the country’s private and public industrial facilities.
This is the first visit Minister Shuaib paid to Bebera Cement Factory since is he took over as the Minister of Industries last month.
