Hargeisa, (Sayruuq) -Police Commissioner Brigadier Abdilahi Fadal Iman have once again warned the public against the activities of a fraudster who operate with Facebook page created with his name. Brigadier Fadal has also denied the existence of a Facebook page run by him.
“I once again want to tell Somaliland public that I don’t have a personal account or page on Facebook and any information posted on a page on the social media platform in my name are false and of malicious intent.” Brigadier Fadal tells Hayaannews.
This is second warning Brigadier Fadal sent to his Facebook imposters since his first warning on October last year.
Brigadier Fadal also tells Hayaannews that even though he is not on the social media platform, he was shocked to discover several accounts of his exist, with the operators misleading the public.
Finally, the police commissioner sent a stern warning to his imposters on Facebook to stop using his name on fake Facebook accounts and Pages.
Impersonation is a new thing that is becoming quite rampant on social media where strangers create fake pages and use them to trick fans into believing they are celebrities or public figures. Many public figures has fallen victim to this.
Besides Brigadier Fadal, Kulmiye leader Muse Bihi Abdi and Justice Minister Hussein Ahmed Aided have also became the victims of this act of social media impersonation.
Last month, Somaliland’s ruling party, Kulmiye has warned against a Facebook imposter impersonating the party’s chairman Muse Bihi Abdi.
