Ethiopia, Sudan keen to strengthen bilateral relations

Foreign Minister Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu who arrived in Khartoum on Sunday (January 14, 2018) for bilateral talks met with President Omar Hassan al-Bashir, during which the two countries reaffirmed commitment to strengthen the bilateral relationship thereby enhance the social and economic benefits of the peoples of the two countries.

Taking note of the fact that Ethiopia and the Sudan have shared interests, President al-Bashir underscored that the two countries should work more closely to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
The President also noted that the construction of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) would benefit not only Ethiopia but also countries in the region.
Minister Dr. Workneh on his part emphasized on the need to hold regular consultations in a bid to strengthen the economic and political ties between the two countries.
Foreign Minister Dr. Workneh is due to meet his Sudanese counterpart, Professor Ibrahim Ghandour later today.
